Forsyth County holds employee wellness fair

Forsyth County Human Resources held its annual Health and Wellness Fair last week as part of its ongoing efforts to promote health among county employees.

This year’s health fair at the County Government Center included more than 20 vendors representing a variety of services from local organizations, along with a few city and county departments, that address the holistic wellness of employees. Activities at the fair included a low impact Pilates class, smoothies prepared by Chef Floyd Davis, group walks and a free healthy lunch.

The fair is part of the Healthkick Forsyth County Wellness Program. The voluntary program is free to employees. Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist provides health screenings for employees and wellness coaches that will work with them one-on-one to address any issues that are found. All employee health information is highly confidential and governed by HIPAA privacy laws. The county does not receive any health information about individual employees.

The program also includes an employee health and wellness clinic, organized weekly walks, wellness activities, lunch and learns, Wellness Ambassadors that encourage wellness in their departments and a cash incentive for maintaining or making progress towards a healthy weight/waist measurement.

“The wellness program is designed to create a culture that empowers employees to maintain optimal health, wellness and productivity by taking responsibility for their own health and lifestyle and educate their families,” said Deputy Director of Human Resources Marcy Jackson. “The health fair supports this objective by bringing together vendors who provide resources to support physical, financial, social and mental health. The wellness day is a day to celebrate past success from the previous wellness year and jump start the wellness journey for the next wellness year!”
