Synopsis and Discussion
Cold high pressure, to the west of the state, Friday, will drift, east, and over the Triad, Saturday and Sunday. Particle pollution climbed a bit in portions of the Triad, overnight, and will result in upper code GREEN/low code YELLOW readings for the day. As the ridge settles overhead, winds will decrease setting the stage for strong overnight/early morning inversions both Saturday and Sunday. Inversions lead to higher particle pollution values for several hours before air mass mixing, later in the day, which helps to reduce the daily average. Overall, low code YELLOW particle pollution, can be expected over the weekend. The next cold front will clear the state, Monday, helping to lower the AQI back to code GREEN (GENTRY).
