Dry air and plenty of sunshine have created conditions conducive for ozone formation and concentrations are Moderate to start the new week. Fine particle concentrations are hovering in the mid to upper Code Green range. Warm weather is on tap for the next three days with high temperatures pushing into the 80s. There will be a slight chance of storms on Wednesday and Thursday that could have ozone implications should they materialize. Given the current uncertainty, the forecast will be treated as though no rainfall will occur, and as such, Code Yellow ozone readings are expected to continue for the balance of the forecast period. Readings could push into the mid Code Yellow range tomorrow. Steady southwesterly flow is expected and particle pollution concentrations upstream are in the upper Code Green and lower Code Yellow ranges. Daily averages are expected to net out in the lower Code Yellow range as surface high pressure remains parked off the coast and the air mass begins to stagnate a bit. (Perrotte)
