A weak disturbance sliding through the region, Wednesday, will spread clouds and possibly a few light sprinkles, as it dissipates. As a result, better air mass mixing will occur, helping to keep the AQI code GREEN. A cold front, to the west of NC, will approach the state, then retreat back to the NW. Ahead of the front, moderate SW winds, and a few widely scattered showers and thunderstorms will lead to lower, code GREEN particle pollution and ozone, Thursday. A warmer air mass will move into the Triad, Friday and Saturday, ahead of another frontal system. A return to low code YELLOW particle pollution is possibly both days as pollution builds in front of the system. Ozone may also climb, to the upper end of code GREEN, Friday and Saturday (GENTRY).
