Is It Time To Get Smart About Your Money?

Forsyth County Public Library, in conjunction with the American Library Association and other community partners, will commemorate national Money Smart Week by hosting three financial literacy programs the week of April 2-9, 2011.

We’re partnering with the American Library Association to offer Money Smart Week, a series of financial literacy and fiscal responsibility classes to be held at the library April 2-9.

  • “Fear Your Score No More: Successfully Managing Your Credit and Debt”

Lawlor and Dunn have delivered programs on credit, debt, investing and financial literacy to college students at UNCG for a number of years. “Fear Your Score No More”, however, will be tailored to people of all ages, and there will be opportunities for the public to ask questions of the presenters. This program will include a question and answer session.

Library information about financial resources will also be available at all Money Smart Week programs. A sampling of financial resources available from the library include: investment tools such as Value Line and Morningstar, financial newspapers such as “Financial Times”, the “Wall Street Journal” and “Investors’ Business Daily”, and grant-seeking resources such as Foundation Grants to Individuals and Foundation Directory Online. Free tax assistance for senior citizens and low-income individuals and families is also available at the library through mid-April.

All Money Smart Week programs are free and open to the public. Additional programs may be added to the current schedule so watch our website or sign up for breaking Library news, information and programs through Twitter.
