The Journey Home: Expressive Writing Workshop

Come explore the wonderful territory of your own life in this fun summer writing workshop! Professional writer Jennifer L. Stevenson leads the workshop. NO WRITING EXPERIENCE NEEDED! We’ll experiment with journaling, personal essays, and some poetry as different ways to express thoughts and feelings.

And just in time for summer, we’ll also take a look at travel memoirs. Have you ever wanted to capture a sunset, scenic vista, or picturesque city street in your travel journal or postcard for folks at home? It’s always said that a “picture is a thousand words,” but we’ll challenge that as we learn ways to capture our vivid life experiences on paper.

Participants should bring paper, pen/pencil, and one or two postcards from a trip.

Stevenson is an award-winning writer with more than 25 years experience in newspapers and magazines. A founding member and past-president of Winston-Salem Writers, she has been nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.
