Ground Breaking for the New Clemmons Branch Library

There will be a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Clemmons Branch Library on Thursday, August 15 at 10:30 a.m. The new library will be located off of Stadium Drive in the field between Lowes Foods and the Masonic lodge and should be completed in September 2020.

The new 20,000 square foot branch will replace the 8,900 square foot branch at 3554 Clemmons Rd. The current branch will remain open during construction of the new branch.

The $6 million project will provide larger children's and adult areas with more room for books and other materials, as well as space for reading and study. For the first time, teenagers will have their own separate space to gather.

The branch will include small meeting rooms, a larger auditorium and a Makerspace for craft and technology projects. There will also be an inviting outdoor space for reading and programs, and expanded parking.

The Clemmons Branch Library is the final phase in the $40 million bond for library construction that was approved by voters in 2010. The Central Library was completed in late summer 2017 and the Paddison Memorial Branch in Kernersville opened in December 2018.
