Art exhibit by Christian Lannie at the Central Library until Sept. 30

On your next visit to the Central Library, be sure to stop on the second floor to see the art exhibit by local artist Christian Lannie.

The exhibit is large scale abstract paintings on plywood. Lannie says he buys the plywood from a friend, and he cuts the pieces down to halves or thirds. He paints what he sees in nature, but melds it with something "beyond this planet." Lannie describes his art as being where "the supernatural meets the natural." He says that he sometimes forces himself to paint when he gets frustrated, sad or depressed because when he feels the worst, the best art comes out. He says he paints for the "peace of it all."

Lannie also says, "Follow your love, follow your passion, and do what turns you on. You’re only here for a brief time, enjoy it. That’s where I’m at, things make more sense when I’m creating. I’m in touch with something bigger than myself." The exhibit by Christian Lannie will be on display on the second floor of the Central Library until Sept. 30.
