OverDrive App to Be Discontinued on ChromeOS Nov. 20 and Windows Dec. 7

The OverDrive app will be removed from the Chrome Web Store on Nov. 20 and Windows store on Dec. 7. This will prevent future downloads of the applications. All help materials and links will be updated to direct users on devices running ChromeOS to the Google Play Store and the Apple Store on Apple devices.

What does this mean for you? It simply means that you only need to download the Libby by Overdrive app on your Android or Apple device to continue to access the North Carolina Digital Library on the go. You will also still be able to browse the digital library on a web browser using a desktop or laptop.

Users who have already downloaded the Chrome Web Store's version of the OverDrive app can continue to use it, but OverDrive's ability to troubleshoot and resolve any reported issues will be limited.

Going forward, new users on ChromeOS or Windows devices can access the Google Play Store directly to download the Libby app by OverDrive.
