Forsyth County Government receives NACo awards for three programs

Three Forsyth County Government programs have been selected to receive 2022 Achievement Awards from the National Association of Counties (NACo).

The programs were submitted by different Forsyth County Government departments:

  • The Hispanic Liaison Project, which bridged the gap between Forsyth County Department of Public Health and the Hispanic community during the pandemic, using community partnerships, in person visits, a Spanish language hotline, and community events to spread life-saving information about COVID-19.
  • The Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) collaboration between the Department of Social Services and the City of Winston-Salem, combining resources to promote and distribute assistance with rent and utilities to thousands of qualifying households affected by the pandemic. For more information on ERAP, visit: https://forsyth.cc/erap/.
  • The Election Academy, a Forsyth County Board of Elections program that gives citizens a behind-the-scenes look at how elections are prepared and conducted. The six-week program is the first of its kind in North Carolina.
The NACo Achievement Awards program is a non-competitive awards program that recognizes innovative county government programs. To qualify, programs must have measurable results, use innovative techniques or procedures, be consistent with acceptable governmental and financial management practices and promote general governmental accountability.
